Crater was a fantastic read. Non-stop action from the beginning to the end, it left me breathless at times. Great story, enjoyable characters. It was very hard to put down and I just wanted to keep reading it. Highly recommended. Bring on book two!

What a thriller! I could not put this book down. I hope Phoenix Connor is aware that there will be many people suffering from sleep deprivation as they stay up reading such a dynamic book. It fixed such vivid images in my mind, often too real. I can only imagine the time, research and detail it took to create such a fascinating drama.

Crater by Phoenix Connor is a first class adventure and has a sense of ‘this really could happen’ that is often missing in novels of this genre.
The characters are believable because of their occasional human frailties that all of us experience at times. I am hard pressed to work out who is my favourite character from the excellent choice of characters in this novel.
The location, which is integral to the plot, is described in splendid detail. I am sure that every reader will, as I did, develop a rich image of Crater and the surrounding area.
All in all, an excellent read. I can’t wait for the next book from Phoenix Connor.

I consider myself an extremely jaded reader, often disappointed by purchasing books that I think are going to be good reads and instead they turn out to be predictable and unimaginative. When I commenced reading Crater, I was immediately drawn into a fascinating, spell-binding journey of immensely well-written characters and their adventures. When I read this book, I completely forgot about ‘my world’, it was almost as if time stood still during the Sunday I read the book from cover to cover.
From its kaleidoscopic use of imagery, to its characters who are entertaining and stimulating, to its electric pace – this book is a ‘must read’ for those who wish to be truly entertained. One word of warning – if you are anything like me, you will be counting the days until you are able to purchase Phoenix Connor’s next riveting release.

Crater is an extremely good book. I loved the story and how it twists and turns right till the end. Characters were extremely good. I raced through the story, it has the action and characterisation of Clive Cussler and the pace of Matthew Reilly – but more realistic. Lots of great humour, which is required to bring the heart rate down and release the tension as you get totally immersed in the story.

Crater is one of those ‘I’ll just read the next section before I turn in’ books that has you later staring at the clock on the wall wondering why it is 4am. It manages to find the right balance between comfortable expectation and unanticipated turns; whilst still retaining a logical consistency to keep the story believable. Best of all, the inherent rhythm in the writing enhances the thrill of the plot, so you soon find yourself in that glorious selfish life-interlude of being immersed in a good book. Two thumbs up!

Crater was great! On Day 1, I stayed up until 3am reading it. I only stopped on the first night because I had to – my eyes stopped working! Unfortunately, I read it in 2 nights. I was highly impressed. The writing was precise and the pace was breathless. The book has a great plot with wonderful twists and turns. The whole story was packed with suspense and it kept me guessing right to the end. What do I do now? How long do I have to wait for the next book?

Adventure thriller is such an apt category for the book Crater. I was enthralled from page 1 with the excellent plot and well-developed characters. An excellent read! I finished Crater last night and really enjoyed the book. I’m a thriller dabbler – I’ve only read some of Dean Koontz’s books and now yours. I don’t read Dean Koontz at night or I’d have nightmares and you’ve certainly managed to write a book that could keep me awake as well.
Your characters were excellent, the premise was terrifying and the action wore me out. There was even enough romance to satisfy me. As I read, I could see how well thought out the premise was, and the technical points were clear and concise and made a great deal of sense.
Your descriptions were excellent. While I’ve never seen so many of the things you described, I could visualise them well. Almost too well with some of the incidents but I realise that’s part of the story. You’ve written an excellent book and I’m looking forward to your next book.

We’re married and rarely read the same type of books. One of us is a sci-fi fan, the other likes crime novels and thrillers. But we both loved this book! It had wonderful characters, was crammed with twists and turns, terrifying scenes and some laugh-out-loud incidents.
This is a great book for the beach or to take on holidays. If you’re a fan of Clive Cussler, Michael Crichton or James Rollins, you’re going to love every minute of Crater!

It’s fast paced, action packed, with stacks of twists and turns. But unlike most Reilly novels, Crater also has well-drawn characters who you genuinely grow to love and admire, plus the book blends suspense, mystery, humour and science together into an incredible plot that doesn’t let up until the last page.
